LS Radio problems??
Anyone have the LS and having problems with the CD player??
I KNOW it's not an MP3 player but I can burn the cd with burn4free as "Audio" and it used to play my cds just fine up till about a month ago... No scratches on any cds what so ever but I can seriously listen to a while cd just fine and then get in the car another time and half of it not work right, meaning it will skip and jump all around till it spits it out, and that's without EVER taking the cd out so I couldn't personally have put a scratch on it since it was never taken out AND if you look at it there are no scratches. What do I do??? Is it just not meant to be or will GM replace this stupid thing? Bought the car NEW in February of 2007 and it's an '07 Would love some help guys and gals! |
I guess the real test would be to use a commercially recorded CD and see if that skips, jumps, etc. If that works correctly, it COULD be something with the recording program you're using....just a guess.

The 'reflectivity" of CD-Rs is less than that of pressed audio CDs and degrades over time, leading to a weak signal that the CD player interprets as being a little off-track, and the head can lose the track completely as it searches to center over the track. Some brands work better than others, but there's not a lot you can do about it if the player is only intended to work with audio CD's, as it probably still works fine with such.

try a differnt brand of CD-R and also try burning at a slower rate then the max. I have had name brand CD-R media that burned fine and played fine in the PC but when played in the car I actually got static like a bad radio station. Changed media and problems went away....

Thanks everyone for the help!
I will try a different CD-R and burn slower too, if that doesn't work then I will just rip the cheep piece of junk out and put in an Alpine HU. |
Try using music CD-R's instead of regular CD-R's. I was having the same problem and once I switched the problem vanished. :thumb:

I have the 6-CD changer and have had problems with it skipping that last few songs on an MP3 recorded disk. I know because I record them alphabetically and one of my favorite song titles begins with "W".
I'll try music CDs next time. |
