Maybe another mystery solved.....can you identify this part??

For almost 3 years I have had this mystery noise everytime I would make a hard left, it stopped lately, but I think I found out the problem. Changed out the BPV spring back to stock today, and was feeling around openings under the hood, and this is what I found in the cowl area.

It appears to be an HVAC deflector of some sort, doesn't look like it goes anywhere that I could tell. Undid the cowl area cover, looked inside and could not determine where this might belong. Checking all of my HVAC settings and vents, and air blows out all vents when and how they are supposed to. But since they put wrong parts on my SS from the factory, I am wondering if this happened to be an extra part that they just left in the cowl area.....who knows.......

Looks like the part that fits into the drain opening in the bottom of the cowl for the water to drain out. I think I may have a picture, I'll look.

Here ya go. It's in the proper position in the picture but I think the drain is the small round tube on the left in the picture and the part you have is a air vent but not sure where it vents to. Sorry can't remember, it's been almost 2 years since I sealed the cowel opening off.

Yeah, it may seem useless, but I figure they put it on for a reason...they don't like wasting money on each car they make so I figure they only put things back on if they need to. Who knows what could go wrong down the line if you didn't put it back on
