Message Gate ajar

While in motion, the light "gate ajar" has started coming on occasionally. The liftgate is closed, naturally. Where should I look for the problem in the first place?

Check switch #1 pin#6 pink and black wire. Might be a wire issue or possibly the switch is bad
It looks like you will have to remove the liftgate panel to get to it.

Talking Why

Why can a door or a gate be "ajar", BUT a jar can not be a door or gate?
Go figure.

I was asked that by a 5 year old nephew.....

What do you think, if I cut the wire from BSM # 55, the signal disappears?
If it is damaged inside the harness, does the signal appear?

If you ground that wire the message should go away The "closed " signal needs to be present for the Remote Start to work.
