Messed up TPMS
Had my new General G-Max 03 AS put on by Sears Auto Center in Wilmington DE. Went out today and looked at the DIC to see how the pressure was on the tires, they were all over the place. I had one showing 40, one showing 27, one showing 28 and the last one showing 36. Tried to fix it all but that didn't work. I tracked down by using a digital tire gauge that the LF was actually the LR and so forth around the vehicle. Aren't they supposed to put the same wheel back on the same spot where they removed it from ? Is there a way to fix this or do I need to take it back to them ?
Some tire shops just do it like a pit stop.. & Don't care, I would check the torque anyhow with your own torque wrench..... 100 ft lbs.
You can re-synch the TPMS easily yourself, procedure is in the owners manual..

From the owners manual:
The TPMS matching process is outlined below:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the
engine off.
3. Press and hold the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter’s LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, at the
same time, for about five seconds to start the TPMS
learn mode. The horn sounds twice indicating the
TPMS receiver is ready and in learn mode.
4. Start with the driver side front tire. The driver side
front turn signal also comes on to indicate that
corner’s sensor is ready to be learned.
5. Remove the valve cap from the tire’s valve stem.
Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or
decreasing the tire’s air pressure for about
eight seconds. The horn chirp, can take up to
30 seconds to sound. It chirps one time and then all
the turn signals flash one time to confirm the sensor
identification code has been matched to the tire/
wheel position.
6. The passenger side front turn signal comes on to
indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned.
Proceed to the passenger side front tire and
repeat the procedure in Step 5.
7. The passenger side rear turn signal comes on to
indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned.
Proceed to the passenger side rear tire and
repeat the procedure in Step 5.
8. The driver side rear turn signal comes on to
indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned.
Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat
the procedure in Step 5.
9. After hearing the single horn chirp for the driver
side rear tire, two additional horn chirps sound to
indicate the tire learning process is done. Turn
the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
If no tires are learned after entering the TPMS learn
mode, or if communication with the receiver
stops, or if the time limit has expired, turn the
ignition switch to LOCK/OFF and start over
beginning with Step 2.
10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure
level as indicated on the Tire and Loading
Information label.
11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.

was abt $50 but now close to 70, price keeps going up
i got a set for my winter tires and they are the newer style of the rubber valve that hangs freely. The set i have on my summers are the ones that screw/attach to the rim.
Now the set i have for my winters dont seem to be syncing to the car, i followed the steps, the driver side signal comes on, so i deflate the tire a bit for it to recognize it, i get 2 horn beeps then the passenger side signal supposed to come on but it doesnt, and none of the rear signals come on either. I tried it 3 times and same thing keeps happening. Also, the passenger front side reads 16psi on my air gauge setting when you can see that the tire looks inflated..any ideas?

I noticed the other day whilst shopping for tires that Sears charges $5/tire to reset the TPMS positions!
No, tire busters don't care what position the wheels end up on.
Never trust the tire stores gauges. But..., notice that ALL tire stores recommend that you return in a few hundred miles to have the wheels re-torqued and the pressure checked (for free).
Get your fob repaired, or pay the dealer. If the car was a rental in it's past life you may need to have the BCM reprogrammed in order to use the fob for the TPMS function.

The good thing is it will work even on my Malibu and HHR and all GM cars going forward.
The price is not too bad as the original main unit they offer is still $650.
I just purchased one of these since all GM cars after Jan 1 2001 can no longer be set with the manual mode. My 12 Terrain needed this tool.
