Cool Mobil Clean 5000, Mobil Clean 7500 motor oils

XOM (Exxon-Mobil) actually offer a warranty with these oils.

I'm thinking about using Mobil Clean 5000 conventional oil for the first oil change, then for the 2nd and all thereafter use Mobil Clean 7500 synthetic blend.

What do you think?

Lube is such a personal thing....

"This is a limited warranty covering the Mobil Clean **** lubricant you purchased."

Seriously, is there really a point to a warranty on oil? If you put it in an it fails, having the oil manufacturer replace the oil is probably the least of ones worries.

LR...with just about any "blend" I wonder what percentage is synthetic? I have been a syn user for a long time now and feel it is worth the extra money to go full synthetic.I used Mobil 1 for years and recently switched to Royal Purple. So far so good.I think my mileage actually improved with the Royal Purple about 2 mpg. http://www.royalpurple.com/prodsa/rpmoa.html

Used to have to feed my Vette Mobil 1. Kind of tired of buying $5/qt oil. Don't want to cheap out on the HHR but a good syn-blend sounds like a sensible compromise.

Mobil says they'll pay to repair the engine, though.

I can understand that but I stretch out my change interval and it works out to about the same money.

I am sure there is lots of fine print to that. But if this gives you comfort and you feel it is worth any additional cost, go for it. I would just think that any decent brand oil would protect the car for the same mileage/time. Plus, if one did have an engine failure that was linked to an oil failure, I would expect you would have a legal case to go after the oil manufacturer anyway as longs as you followed what the vehicle manufacturer recommends for oil changes.

I believe Mobil 5000 is the factory fill for the HHR (From what I've gathered over at BITOG)

They use quite a bit more sodium in their oil than other companies. Sodium is one of the triggers on oil analysis reports of antifreeze in the oil(coolant leak) If you have your oil anaylzed just remember that...if not...use it anyways! It is a great oil
