My paint is peeling, HELP!!!

This stinks! I have babied this car from the start and hand wash it most of the time and it gets waxed regularly. The few of you that know me or have seen our HHR know it is very well cared for.

The paint started just popping off on the front of the hood a while ago and I just figured it was from a small rock chip or something and figured it would not worsen. Well the spot is just larger than a softball now and conintuing to get bigger. Also another spot started a couple months ago on the fender by the the headlight and it too just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Now I just noticed that there is a small spot on the opposite frnder way back by the windshield that if starting to come off.

I contacted my local dealer and was told there have been no complaints and there is nothing they can do. this is obviously not from my own doing, it is so bad that you can just wipe it with your finger and pop a chip off.

Anybody else have this issue? Have you gotten anywhere with the dealer? Aside from getting the entire car repainted I don't see a solution here.

Did you buy new. I also see it was build two days after my 06 LS. Maybe some paint before you took it home. My 06 has never been waxed just wash at auto wash all the time I have had it. Paint still looks good when clean.

I'd say it's a paint issue, paint these days should never just start peeling. Regardless how much sun it gets.

I did see one at a Target parking lot huge patches of paint peeled off the hood. My first thought was maybe it was in a fire, but didn't see the owner so I couldnt ask him.

I had a '85 Ford truck that did that years ago, it was 2 tone and one color after about 8 years peeled off. I took photos then paid someone to reapint and wrote a leter to Ford with photos, months later a check was in the mail.

Dealer will say this when they dont want to deal with it...go higher up the chain..its a paint issue,,doent matter how many cars were affected,

Well, the car IS 6 years old. The dealer or manufacturor can't warranty a car forever.
It is unfortunate that yours is peeling. You just happened to get one that didn't hold up as long as others.

Reminds me of my old blazer, I had a 1994 two-tone blazer that the paint could be picked off with a fingernail. The issue was the primer GM used. My Blazer had to be stripped, primed, and painted again on GM. I gave it to my Dad and 6 years after the first repaint, it started chipping again.. But only the tailgate.

gm had plenty of problems back in the 90s dosent seem like they have as many now but they do show up somtimes if you keep say visiting the dealer you never know what they might do for you. imo it is from the time window between the sealer/base/clear there is a max amount of time between the processes
