New blower resistor dead in less than 3 weeks

ok so my thinking is that the fan blower is the culprit of the blower resistor shorting out and not just rain water itself. my thinking is due to exposure of rain in the blower and the bearings lubricity being compromised and creating much more resistance at start up at lower speeds, causing the blower resistor to heat up way beyond what it was intended to do and shorting out. looking at the new one vs the old one it has no burn out spot on it, now i'm not sure what to think at this point. rain has nothing to do with the latest problem with the blower resistor, so droping the motor and lubing it up is on my short list if not replacing it, but it ticks me off to buy a new blower resistor again. $$$$$

Not as easy as you may think, you have to cut the old one out then bolt the new one in. You can't just unbolt the factory motor it's part of the housing.
