New and Need Help - Speakers

Hello! I am Elisabeth! I have a 2006 Chevy HHR. I am waiting for my parts to arrive for my recall, in the mean time my back speakers have stopped working and the front two sound like crap. I need to fix it before I have no sound (no music=no good). Anyways....Any advise etc would be great. Having to put tires and speakers in wasn't in the books since I have a sensor that needs fixing too. When it rains it poors. I am not looking to spend a ton of money on speakers etc as she already has 177,000 miles on it! Thanks in advance!!

Welcome Elisabeth. I've moved your posting to the Problems section and added "Speakers" to your title so that more will take notice of it.

Anyways, yeah a few people have had problems with the speakers dying out. They will be a 6.5" speaker and there is a lot of info here on replacing them, as well as adapting non-stock speakers to the mounts on the doors.

You don't mention what budget you are looking at or if you will be doing it yourself??? Post an answer to that, and we'll see where we can best advise you. :)

Also, give the Search tool at the top of the page and search for "speaker replacement" (without the quotes), and you will find a ton of info out there, from cheap speakers to expensive ones.

yes budget and also ear quality ...if it doesnt really matter than you can pretty much get any 6.5" speaker and put it in there...just might have to tinker with the mounts if the new speakers dont match up etc but most likely they wont. Try Bestbuy or other places like that and see what they offer

Welcome to the site! Many places have good speakers for a good price, BestBuy , Radio Shack, even Walmart. Shop for the size mentioned !

Yes I will be doing it myself! I would like cheap but not so cheap that they will die right away again. :-) I have 177,000 miles on the car and need new tires as well! When it rains it pours! Any and all help would be great. I don't mind making my own brackets to hold the speakers into place but a general idea of what anyone has done would be great!

Crutchfield has a nice set of 2 for around $50. They come with adapters so they will fit.

Well most of the time were the hookups meet to the speaker they rusted from moisture can sand them down and see if they work.... If that's the problem put some dielectric grease on them....
