New pads/rotors-Low Pedal

Installed new pads and rotors today (70K miles on my 2006).
No problem with install, but when I started HHR to test drive, pedal was very noticeably lower than before.
I had pumped brake 4 or 5 times with engine off to move caliper piston in and "seat" pad against rotor. Pedal was very firm and high as it should be.
But when engine started and power assist kicked in, brake pedal travel seems excessive. In other words, I have to push much farther down on pedal to engage brakes than I did before replacing pads and rotors.
Never opened system, so air bubbles is not the cause.
Anyone else run into this? Suggestions? I've checked guide pins - they're greased and fine. No leaks around piston or anywhere else.

For grins and giggles you may want to check the rear shoes for adjustment.....or try backing up briskly and laying on the brakes to accomplish the same thing....probably take 5 times or so to get em back in adjustment..............

Just an innocent question. Wen you started the engine, was your foot pushing on the pedal and then it went to the floor? That's normal, and a test of the vacuum assist. After starting up and driving does the pedal still go all the way down? That is a major problem.
