I'm having electrical problems to the fuel pump on my 2009 HHR lt. I've checked the relay and the fuse I hotwired the fuel pump and it works just fine. Can anybody help me?

 

Any lights on the dash?
Same key as always?
Power to the relay?
Signal on the relay control?

 

Is the plug for the fuel pump clean and connected firmly? Its under the car rear axle area , passenger side, look for rodent chew marks

 

You know that when you turn the key on, the fuel pump is only powered for a couple seconds, right?

 

I have taken my rear seats out and probe the gray wire with power it works.

 

You can't do that on an HHR. What car is this?

 

It is an HHR if you lift the rear seats and pull back the carpet there is a wiring loom and the fuel pump wire is one of those.

 

The fuel pump only runs for about 5 seconds without the motor running.

Great now check the harness connector under the car


It should not have green crude in it.

 

The car will not start The fuel pump will not run Crank it no start there's no power going to the fuel pump at all I have tested the fuel pump it works fine I pulled up the back seats and probe the gray wire with power The fuel pump will run it's not the ground. The car will not start after I hook the fuel pump back up.
