No power steering above 10MPH only
So, you just ignored the advice to exercise the FREE warranty option? So now you have a part that will fail because it is the bad part, if you had gone to GM you would have got the re designed part.
This member got it done today on his 2006, just by believing me. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...g-fails-59236/

I want to thank you ALL for the information provided here at this site, I have found it very helpful. I have a 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe two door sedan that's steering is as easy as the HHR and is not powered. I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of working on my own cars. I dis-assembled the old 2006 EPS motor and found the brushes to be the exact problem with the motor. The motor in installed was from a 2008 vehicle. I will start the search for new set of brushes to repair my old motor.
Why? GM will replace the EPS motor free of charge!!
You do realize your responsibility for any failure which results in personal or property damage from your actions.
Please let GM handle the EPS replacement for safety's sake!

Well, time to close this thread. And no, we don't want an update on where to get replacement brushes.
Note to others with the same issue (power steering motor) - please contact your GM dealer regarding a warranty extension etc. rather than repairing it on your own. GM considers it a SAFETY ISSUE!!! and repairing it on your own is not advisable. Swapping parts between years, will likely leave one out of luck if they later try to get a warranty fix for another failed EPS.
