No sound coming from anything
I am lurker, but I could use some help here.
This morning as I was driving to work, nothing on my stereo would work (AM/FM/XM/CD). I have had some issues where it sounds like there is static going through the speakers, but I did not have anything on. But what was really weird is that the turn-signal noise did not go, or the load disc notification when trying to get a CD in. Anyone else have this or has this already been covered? |
Don't remember seeing anything about that...but I don't read every post. You might check the audio/video thread too.
Also, if you haven't done so already, please be sure to check your fuses and make sure they are all snug. Both the ones under the hood and also the ones behind the removable panel on the right hand side of the waterfall. It's a known issue and might be a quick fix hopefully. ;) |

Maybe it will be better by lunch time. All those new CDs for Christmas just wanting to be played.

check the audio/video threads there are a few of us who have experienced this. It seems to be a bad ground. It is strange that you're getting some of the chime-like sounds though. could be a bad radio since all of the chimes go through the radio.

As I tried it again at lunch, everything seemed to work fine. So something just didn't fire I guess.
Thanks for the help. Now back to lurking. |
I had the same problem two weeks ago. I took the cover off the inside fuse box, and pushed all the fuses to make sure they were sitting correctly. Then started up the car and everything works fine again.

Sorry I didn't post sooner on this. I don't often have time to read the forums.
I had this issue starting the day I was supposed to pick up my car. I went home in a rental. Sounds happened seemingly when they wanted to without rhyme or reason. Go over a bump, the sound custs out. Hit another it comes back on. One day it works, another it doesn't. Well I did finally find time to give up my ride and left it at the dealer for two weeks. They had to trace EVERY wire associated with the stereo and amplifier. There was a short up under the dash in the wiring. The tech traced them all out. He surmised that the wires were stretched during installation. He replaced the faulty wiring (after shorting out two amplifiers) and all is well. Assumuing you do not have the loose fuse issue, I would recommend taking it in to the dealer and having them trace down the problem in the wiring. Mike R. |
