Not again!

A not so infrequent occurrence it would seem. For the second time in 6 days, I have an "Engine Power Reduced" code in my dash. And I highly doubt that it was the Oil cap and filler neck they claim it was.

Does anyone have any speculation WHAT could be causing this?

The first time this happened, I went to start my vehicle, cold. And it started just fine. I looked at the dash, and that code was there.

This time, I had started it, and it started fine. At time of ignition, there was no code. I get going down the street, and it pops again, I feel the car cringe and slow down, and see the code on the dash..

What's going on?! :(

Hey 1151, has it gone back to the dealer yet? I wouldn't drive it like this much at all, if you can park it and find alternate transportation, I'd do it. There are so many things that can trigger this that its really gonna be next to impossible to diagnose without a scan tool. Is your DIC still displaying the code, and if it is, please post it so I can grab the manuals. I am concerned about the dealers diagnosis, it still bugs me being a bit out there but still plausible. Standing by.

843, It just popped the same code as last time. "Eng Pwr Reduced" I do not have a scan tool or other form of transport. I have an appointment at 7am at the dealership tomorrow.

autozone or advanced auto can read codes at no charge

OK, I wasn't sure it if was going to give you the DTC or not. Since it didn't we're back to shot in the dark territory. Hopefully this is an intermittent deal and you can do what you need to do with it tonight. All I can say is that I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble and to hang in there, and to give the dealer hell in the morning. Please keep us posted on the situation, and I'm sorry that I can't put a more accurate finger on things for you. Along with the problem diagnosed the other day, there are a couple dozen more to consider and it would be guess work at best. Good luck and take care man. And great catch by stephenm, try to hit one of those if you can, just having the DTC would narrow things down greatly.

Can you list them please? See if maybe I can take a more accurate stab based on a couple more variables?

In the Problems/Service Issues section you'll find the sticky with all the DTC's covering '06-'10 models. I'd link you back to it, but either the computer or me is having a moment of stupidity. If you can have the codes pulled, this list will point you in the right direction for sure.

LawDog88 12-02-2010 05:31 PM

I have an autozone right around the corner. I will go get the codes. Stand by.

Code is: P2135.

SmootHHR 12-02-2010 06:17 PM

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ght=code+P2135
P2135 indicates a lack of correlation between the throttle position sensor and the accelerator pedal sensor voltages.

put code p2135 in the search and it brings up 4 or 5 threads
