Fuel door not opening like it use to

I bought my HHR about 5 years ago and slowly over time my fuel door doesn't pop out like it once did. It still makes the click noise and holds the door shut when I press it, but when I press to pop it open, it opens ~1/16th of an inch and I have to use what little finger nails I have to get it open. I want it to really spring open like it did before.

Does anyone know if there is an adjustment for it to pop it open or will I just need to get a new spring for it? Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching the forums but didn't have much luck finding what I was looking for.

Thanks.

I would try a spritz of WD-40, or whatever spray lube you swear by. I'm not sure there is a replaceable spring, more likely a bit of plastic.

X2 I would lube it first. If that don't work here a thread for the spring popper

Good find on the "Popper" thread Lucky.

Might want to paste the popper part number into whopper's parts thread.

Be careful about using WD-40 on this. It gums up after a while and makes problems like this worse. Stick with an oil or graphite would be my advice.

Haven't been able to check this since I posted. I'll try the lube and see what she does. Appreciate the tips everyone!
