Oil Life Indicator Reset Itself...

for no apparent reason and without human intervention. No trouble codes in the ECU. My scanner cannot access any data from or about the BCM. Anyone have any ideas?

If you have the car in the On position and pump the accelerator three times, it will automatically reset. You might have done that by accident.

I know that is supposed to work on the HHR, does it?? On my 2002 Silvaerado Diesel that is the only way to reset the Change Oil indicator. It usually takes me about 10 times before I can get it to work!

Yeah, I did it the other night at a red light. First time I tried it I had the ignition in the off position. Didn't work. Then I moved it to on and hit the pedal three quick times. Worked like a charm.

Now you get a bonus extra 3 thousand miles before your next trip to jiffy lube.

Thank you....that is much better. And I do agree with the above post. The tech or "grease monkey" did not reset the OLI.

If you did not know....the Oil Life Indicator (OLI) does not reset by itself. It must be reset by a person. The protocol is in your Owners Manual or you do the "quicky method" .....3 pumps.

Also you should read the portion that relates to the OLI and how it works. It might eliminate some confusion. Oh and it does NOT indicate low oil.
