Headlight/ Key chimes

I read the post on how to set the chime volume and it does chime this way it is set on high. But mine still does not chime with the key in the ignition or when the headlights are left on. Is there a bad fuse or what?

Year? Model?
The chimes go through the speaker system. Is your system stock? All speakers working? Especially the left front.

Left front “tweeter” gives the chimes, located on the drivers side A-Pillar.

Sbrown – please fill in your user info.

edit: Dang. So correct about the left front door speaker making the chime sounds as stated in post #6. Don’t know where I got the idea it was the tweeter. Probably the FSM. Sorry for the misinformation.

It is a 2006 LT all stock. Does it matter if the radio is on or off?

No, there should still be a chime when the key is left in the ignition or the headlights left on, regardless of whether the radio is on or not. I think it would either be a problem with one of the speakers or a problem with the radio.

For a while, my radio wasn't working (still never found out why; just starting magically working again one day) and I couldn't hear the noise for the blinkers, headlights on, or key in the ignition. Once the radio started working again, all chimes/noises resumed to normal.

Went to the dealer today told the person at the service desk what the problem was. He said that the left front door speaker is where the chimes come through so I went out to the car to check the speaker. I turned on the radio and did not hear anything. I went to the parts dept. to see if they had any speakers in stock, they had them in stock $29.95. I bought it and went home installed it now everything works.

Bad speakers. Bad wiring connection. Bad radio.
Most likely the speakers. I would check those 1st.
