Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
So, I bought a 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS/auto transmission = upon dealership delivery, my SS had no issues whatsoever & drove as it should = awesome & fast. Well, me being me = I like to swap out various parts & fluids when I buy a used vehicle.I began with the usual = all fluids & filters/air filters x2/ spark plugs & ignition coils, etc. Even though it didn't require it, I went ahead & installed a new Valve Cover GASKET KIT. Well, after all was said & done = the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on when it wasn't on before. My SCANNER/CODE READER came back w/FUEL RAIL PRESSURE TOO LOW! So, as per the SCANNER INSTRUCTIONS = I went ahead & replaced the TANK FUEL PUMP, & the HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP in the engine bay, plus; I also installed a new MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR = Even after doing all that = the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is still on & my SS still displays the REDUCED ENGINE POWER warning...
I'm looking for knowledgeable answers as to how I should proceed with any further repairs... The solution my SCANNER/CODE READER says to do = I've already done...
I would check the actual fuel rail pressure. Not sure of the specs but around 2200 at cold startup and around 400 at warm idle.
I'm working on that as we speak = Hopefully it's something minor = my SS will fix itself for a few minutes, then right back to REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING...
Do you have an RPD? You can look at the fuel rail pressure. Otherwise, you need a scan tool. P0087 and the rail pressure may have nothing to do with the fuel pump. No low-pressure sensor. The only way to look at the pressure from the fuel pump is to attach an external gage.
But you surely messed with the feed to the high-pressure fuel pump and prolly the wiring when you took the valve cover off. (File under if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?)
