Welcome to the site.

You didn't say how many miles on your car. You may have a fuel pump going bad, but I'm just guessing.

Well, why have an extended warranty if you don't use it? It may be covered under the 5yr/100,000 mile drive train GM warranty.

So, my advice is to first call a GM shop and explain the code then ask if it's covered. If it's not then call you insurance co. and ask them.

Either or both may require you to have it in a shop for diagnoses. A GM shop would kill both birds with the same stone. Take it to a professional and find out.

Being that a P0090 code can be any of the following...

- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Fuel pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel pressure sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

You really need to have it checked over by a good diagnostic technician, otherwise you'll end up throwing parts at it.

after some more troubleshooting found something interesting there is a loud buzzing sound coming from the fuel tank I lifted up the car and had my brother listen as I turned the key im not sure is that normal and haven't noticed or just looking for another diagnostic issue

but I will do what was suggested form yall I will call the dealership and see if they can take care of the problem hopefully I wont have to come out of pocket. worst case scenario I will loose about $130 just for diagnose the problem

It's possible that the in tank fuel pump is failing, and causing enough pressure variation that it's triggering the code.

Have you noticed any surging or bucking?

If it is indeed the fuel pump, it looks like the 2009 Fuel Pump is covered under 5yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty per post #3 from this thread...
