2.2L ECOTEC, replaced MAF, Plugs, CAT, O2 sensors, checked fuel pressure, engine running rich, runs ok now, but when it get rough, traction control light comes on, check engine light comes on, and vehicle stalls, black smoke. anyone have any ideas. All inputs welcome!! This problem seems to be intermittent, worse kind of problem to have!!

to the forums!

Seems like an issue with the upstream O2 sensor. Check the wiring. What part did you install?

Did you mean specific parts? I replaced the items described in the original thread.

P0053 says the upstream O2 sensor has high resistance. Did you get a Bosch sensor?
When the code sets the computer goes open loop. The test runs once every drive cycle after a cold start (8 hours off) and several conditions are met. So, it only runs the first time you start the car a day. It is not intermittent because the fault is but because the test is.
I don't know why you threw all of those parts at it.

Yes, specifically the upstream O2 sensor. As donbrew alluded to, the Bosch units often cause problems.

Yes it was a BOSCH O2 sensor, just replaced with an ABIGAIL upstream sensor. I plan on keeping this HHR for awhile, it has 167,000 miles on it, so hopefully the investment will be worth it, nothing I replaced was very expensive, would like to get this ride mechanically sound and put a nice paint job on her!!

I have never heard of that brand. NGK/NTK is the best bet.
