cel on pulled code ( I have a 07 with 2.4 litre) it is P0449 something about a purge valve, tried to clear won't clear, would that be the carcoal canister bad?

Check the electrical connections to that thing mounted on the driver side of the engine under the air filter first.

PO449 = Evaporative emission control system: vent valve / solenoid circuit malfunction

Try the SEARCH function at the top of the page here and search for "P0449" - there are quite a few posts available (too many to list here) that give details on replacing the vent valve solenoid, checking the gas cap, the various models of the solenoid and the different wiring harness needed, as well as details on checking the main fuse block for a loose pin as per a TSB.
