Sorry, it’s just, well my job to throw in logical safety stuff.
Im confident most know about these things, but you would be surprised how many don’t, so for those researchers looking here for guidance.

So I took the transmission harness off and it looked like it got some atf in it somehow. So. I cleaned it with elec cleaner and let it dry. Hopefully that’ll help, it is the only compromised connection I could find. It the main Trans connection I think (big round plug). I haven’t commuted enough to tell a difference yet. I hope it fixed it

Still not fixed

So the trans connection wasn’t it. Any chance it could be a shift solenoid inside the transmission case?

Probably not. Shift solenoid issues generally result in you "losing certain gears" so to speak. If it was a shift solenoid problem you would most likely generate a specific trouble code for that. The code you showed earlier pertained to a TC problem.
Did you see my earlier post where I mentioned the hard shifting may be from the CEL and NOT an actual trans problem ?

It could be the TCC solenoid, more likely wires or dirty fluid.

You might check the TCM end of the cable, some reports that the oil migrates uphill.

10-4 I’ll check it this afternoon. It’s just crazy, I’ve clean every connection I can get to and followed the engine harness schematic I have with no luck.

If it's P0742 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) System - Stuck On
My feeling would to look at/replace a faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve.
We have seen shift solenoids go bad in the trans. Why not this solenoid ?

Blue that was a great thread. Don't know if this person is up to it to get to the TCC solenoid.

But now they can see how it can be done and perhaps avoid the transmission shop telling him the whole engine and transmission has to be dropped out!.
Steve was kind enough to post pictures of his version of how to address a problem.
based on his pictures, I would suggest replacing all the shift solenoids at this time.
Now keep in mind, Steve has a lift in his shop, I’ve been there, met Steve, and he is a very knowledgeable HHR enthusiast.
Heck I’d prefer him working on my HHR then any dealership.
