loss of oil was definetly possible,, lol, Forgot to mention that I had checked codes prior to our trip and had a P0302(misfire cyl 2) and when I pulled sparkplugs for inspection I found greyish deposits on the plug from #2 cyl, also I swapped coil pack from #2 to #1 and swapped plugs from 4 to 1 and vice versa, so i would have more to go on,, that may all be water under the bridge, dunno yet, i have photos of the plugs when i removed them, not sure how to upload unless i have to upload to photobucket first, car sure took a turn for the worse on this trip, anyway i will post back later after compression check, i really dont want to swap engines, i know its worse case scenario, hoping i can repair it leaving engine bolted in,, have to wait and see i guess, appreciate your knowledge and help Donbrew. I've been ASE certified on engine repair but let it lapse in 05, back then i still had a nice IT job, however that isnt the case anymore, got forced into early retirement, luckily i have a shop on my property and lots of tools,

umm now i do, :happyfacerainbow:
hope this works,,, compression test shows 1-150 2-115 3-130 4-150 https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...4/dscn4242.jpg *** https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...4/dscn4241.jpg *** https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...4/dscn4240.jpg *** I am thinkin head gasket leakin, and it must be next to an oil passage, when i had the car in the shop, nose was up a little, and it was smokin a lot, hadnt been smokin very much on the highway, i remember when it died, it was goin uphill,, hmmmmm |
I had a look at those plugs, #2 has a problem , have you run Seafoam thru the engine yet?
While the issue could be the head gasket , seeing as your compression is lowest on #2 at 115 psi it could also be piston rings! Just a thought, just a suggestion, just my prognosis ! |
I had something like that going on a year or so ago. I burned 2 quarts of oil in a thousand miles. I decided a oil control ring was carboned up. I put an ounce or 2 of SeaFoam in each cylinder let sit over night, then burned down the road a few minutes. No more disappearing oil, I think I still have some carbon in one cylinder.
My compression showed 1 cylinder higher than it should have been. |
Seems it Must be a ring problem since I have so much blow-by, it starts spewing as soon as I fire it up.. well, I have a can of seafoam,, worth a shot, "to be continued"

We'll cross our fingers and hope for the best!!

If I had only 2 qts missing in 1K miles, I would be happy :D I had recently picked up a 2nd vehicle just in case, so waiting for my dmv appt to get it registered, so I will do the seafoam thing next week when the other vehicle is legal, follow-up here afterwords, thanks for the tips guys,:thumb: |
I fixed your pictures. You did not follow the tutorial fully.
Let me know what I can do to make it more understandable, please. |
