Exclamation Parking Light Problem

The ride: 2009 LS with 2.0 Ecotec with 168k miles (yes I love driving my Lil' Red Wagon!)

Here's the issue:No parking lights and ambient interior lights. Parking lights flash when locking car.

Checked so far:

All bulbs are good.

Checked and cleaned all light sockets

Fuse is good. Replaced fuse to be sure.

Parking lamp relay is not firing. Swapped parking lamp relay for with low beam relay (they are the same relaymodel and type) and relay works in low beam position on underhood fuse box. Low beam relay does not work in parking lamp position on underhood fuse box. Swapped relays back to original positon

Relay contact position on underhood fuse panel (1 & 2 are closest to the firewall)

1 2
3 4

With relay removed, using a jumper pin when jumping from position 1 to 2 or 1 to 4: No parking lamps.

With relay removed using a jumper pin when jumping from 3 to 2 and from 3 to 4: Parking lamps come on.

When jumpered the parking lights stay on no matter what position the switch lamp is is in.

Checked seating of all wires on red connector on BCM on passenger kick panel

Any ideas what the problem is? Or does some one have a wiring diagram for this year and model?

Many thanks and praises to anyone who has any ideas or suggestions

Welcome to the site.

I got nothing to add. Oldblue made a good suggestion on what to check next.

(P.S. You don't have a 2.0 engine. That's the SS powerplant.
You should have a 2.2)

Welcome to the site

The parking lamp relay is controlled by the body controller I don't recommend jumping the relay connector on the body controller side. The body controller will not hold up well to shorting voltage to the control side.

The head light switch sends the command to the body controller to activate the parking lamp relay.

Here Is a good image of a relay. It is for the horn but they are all the same. (As far as PIN numbers) Jumping pin 30 and 87 bypasses the relay and is ok to do. Jumping pins 30 or 85 to pin 86 can very quickly damage the bcm.

Any testing to pin 86 should be done with a high impedance volt meter.

Have you disconnected the battery for 15 min. or so, reconnecting it and see if everything has been restored?

This is the exact same problem I am having. I wish he would have posted the solution.

Lucky is there a way you can email me that wire diagram. I need to find out what grounds the relay. When I ground it with test light, parking lights work but oh course you can turn them off by the switch.
