PASS KEY lll+ issues

hey guys im a new HHR SS owner and new to the forum. I picked up an 08 hhr ss with 68,xxx on the clock two weeks ago. Everything has been running fine until this morning. I walked out to it and used the key fob to unlock it and i went to start it up and it immediately shut down and lost all power to everything. the lock on the bottom left of the dash light up and there was a clicking noise coming from behind the stereo and the tail lights were flashing. I couldn't get the rear doors or gate to unlock with the FOB or with the switches on the drivers or passengers door so I had to crawl back and manually unlock them and the gate to gain access to the battery. I pulled the negative off for a couple of mins and replaced and now it starts up just fine. does anyone have any idea what this could caused this hiccup?

Loose ground wires, dying battery are possibly the cause!

could a damaged key fob result in this issue? I just opened it up and some of the prongs are broken

I agree with oldblue.

However: if you locked the car with the fob and then unlocked with the key there could be problems. Check your Owners Manual.

I locked it with the fob and when I unlocked it I only pushed it once to unlock the drivers door. Once I turned the key and it started then shut down is when I lost all power and my fob was usless

It has onstar, but I don't know anything about it. I'm going to check those connections this week. It's just odd everything went back to normal after I reset the battery connection. I just purchased it two weeks ago so I don't know about recent repairs
