possible thermostat or temp sensor issue
I've been having a problem with my temp gauge and temp display. It only happens when the outside temp is at or below 55 degrees or so. When the car is cold, I start it and drive for approximately 12 minutes then the temp gauges stop working. If I turn the car off for about 45 minutes then restart, the temp gauges won't work for about 4 minutes, then come back on and work good the rest of the day. Occasionally after the stop/restart interval the gauges don't come back up for the rest of the day and that's when the CEL displays. The codes say it MIGHT be a bad thermostat or it could be a faulty temp sensor or the electrical connections. This is the 2nd winter this has been going on. In the summer it works fine.
My question is, where is the temp sensor on the 2007, 2.2L engine? I don't have a repair manual otherwise I would look it up. By the way, the engine doesn't overheat.
