power steering shut off

Driving to work today and just as I got to the parking lot, the Power Steering warning message came up on the display. Man these things turn hard without the power steering working!! I shut off the engine and restarted, Power steering was working again. i had my 2m radio plugged into the lighter port, that may have been drawing too much voltage. It is unplugged now and I will have to wire it in the way it is supposed to be. I had it plugged in for testing and forgot about it.

hopefully that was what caused the problem(??)

that sounds like what happened, I wonder if the local stealer will have the part on hand or if they will need to order it and take 3 months to get?? I may be back to driving a Land Rover...

Quite a few years ago mine did that for no particular reason, never came back... Hope for the best, but you should be covered if it goes out.

I drive to work and home at 1:30-1:30at night so I don't want problems . Went down and talked to the dealer, they were quite nice (for a change) and are ordering the parts, should be in Monday afternoon and I am scheduled for Tuesday at 9AM...They also stated it was fully covered with the service campaign

Will do. They did say that since there was no diagnostics done, they wouldn't guarantee replacing the motor would fix the problem. but it sounded like an exact description of the problem in the description for the fix.

good to know they are still honoring the repair. vehicle has 189,526 miles on the odometer (if that matters to anyone)

here is the notice I found covering this:
