Ranting, Stuck in ignition

So of course I have never had an issue with my key getting stuck. Boom happens last night and of course GM's stupid policy and procedure ends at 120k... I am very slightly over such... They told me they would waive the diagnostic fee on the customer service number today, but I would rather them just replace the stupid part... My dad has worked at gm for nearly 30 years now and after the issues I've had with customer service on GM's part I really don't know if I will ever buy another modern gm vehicle. I have always been a gm family and every car we've all owned were gm's. The parts quality has suffered greatly in the last 15 years!

If there is any way to get this pushed through PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Make sure you keep your paper work from the repair. GM has just upgraded 06 and 07 to a recall for the key cyl. I'm guessing more years will follow later after they get the parts supply figured out.

I'm sure it's a different issue though, not just getting stuck. Maybe if I hang a billion things from my keys they'll fix it like the recall...

Oh @ChevroletCustomerService, where are you?!

Replacing the cylinder is relatively cheap and a DIY job.

Somebody posted the how recently. Basically take off the plastic hood, use a paper clip in the release hole, remove cylinder; reverse to install.

Is that for an auto or manual. I don't have that plastic plunger for release that some do. Its a 09 ss

This is what I was talking about see post#15 https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=49664&page=2

I am not sure about the quick release thingie on standards, but it should be in the Owner Manual. If you need one just type "owner manual" into the SEARCH box at the top of the page.
