Rear Motor Mount Problems?
Has anyone had any issue with the rear motor mount becoming loose? When I have the front end elevated, when I apply the brakes the entire component rocks back and forth.
|
I have not heard of mounts becoming loose but they do ware out over time. Do you see the mount flopping around or are you just seeing the motor move a lot?
Welcome to the site  |
Well, if it is broken you are looking at flex pipe breakage.

It's as though the mount, and whatever is connected to it, move back and forth. However, I can't be sure that's what's causing the problem. The symptoms:
As I decelerate when braking it feels as though the steering wheel is jerking a bit and the car wants to pull to the left. Any other ideas as to what might cause this? Thanks |
I'll have my mechanic take a look. Thanks.

if it's a braking , decelerating, steering wheel jerking then I doubt it will be the trans mount, but possible brake judder, adjust up the rear shoes in the drums .

OK, I give up. How do you elevate the front end and then apply the brakes to make anything shift positions? If the front end is elevated i.e. on jack stands, the brakes should have no effect on the motors position.
I just don't get the concept. Maybe my mind picture is blurred? Technically there is no "rear motor mount". 1 motor mount (top above the serpentine belt), 2 transmission mounts (front & rear). |
