Thought i would ask on here before going to the dealer.
lately when i try to remote start our 08 ss it will start and run approx 10 minutes then shutdown when i try to start the second time the running lights just flash but no start. there is no codes, I have checked. Anyone have an idea? if i go start it with the key it starts right up i then can shut it down and do the one start again

The auto start has a 10 min timer, so working as designed. It should be able to be auto started twice before needing to start it manually to reset the auto timer.

i get that on occasion too, i usually unlock and relock the doors. but if you take it in let me know what they find.

You can not remote start it right after it shuts off. have to wait like they said and then restart it. It is designed that way from what I was told so not to burn the starter up in them.

The remote start allows 2 different 10 minute events before the key must be inserted into the ignition and started.

If you have been driving the vehicle, park it and then turn it off, exit the vehicle, lock the doors, then push the lock on the fob again it should remote start.

If it acts differently it is a problem.

For my 2008 the manual reads ... the emphasis is mine.

To start the engine using the remote start feature:
1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle.

2. Press and release the transmitter’s lock button,
then immediately press and hold the remote
vehicle start button for four seconds or until the
vehicle’s turn signal lamps flash. The vehicle’s doors
will be locked.

When the vehicle’s engine starts, the parking lamps
will turn on and remain on while the engine is
running.

3. If it is the first remote start since the vehicle has
been driven, repeat these steps, while the engine is
still running, to extend the engine running time by
10 minutes. Remote start can be extended one time.

After entering the vehicle during a remote start, insert
and turn the key to ON/RUN to drive the vehicle.

After a remote start, the engine will automatically shut
off after 10 minutes unless a time extension has
been done or the vehicle’s key is inserted into the
ignition switch and turned to ON/RUN.

The maximum number of remote starts between ignition
cycles with the key is two.

If the remote start procedure is used again before the first
10 minute time frame has ended, the first 10 minutes will
immediately expire and the second 10 minute time frame
will start.
