Roof Rail Install $$$?

Anyone know what it should cost to install the rails at the dealership? I was originally quoted $40 and was wondering if there is an official rate GM provides for this job?

Thanks!

I went up to my local dealer to ask about the broken compartment latch and they asked if I wanted roof rails installed on my car. Apparently someone had double ordered a set for another customer and they couldn't send them back. They quoted me $40 for the install and said it would take approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete

I had mine put on for free. I told my dealer for what the rails cost, they could put them on at no charge. Also after they put them on check the end caps. They broke mine putting them on.

They apparently had difficulty doing the job, so I asked " First time?" The answer was yes... I don't plan on paying for their learning curve.
Car is still there, I asked for an inspection and I'm awaiting the announcement that it's done.

Well they weren't going to carge me for the roof rails, just for the installation. But after the way they stuck my state inspection sticker on and put their liscense plate frame on upside down, there's no way I'd let them drill holes in my roof...

$54 and an 18" scratch leading from the windshield to the roof rail on the driver's side.

Yes. And I'm amazed at the flex and the lack of support in the roof rail! it seems that it should be cosmetic only? I'd like to put a carrier on it for things but would flex and bend the sheet metal if I did . Anyone carry anything on their roof rack?

i used mine on a 700 mile trip to minnesota running 76mph with 3 big cases on them. The only issue was getting the straps tight so they did not make any noise. I did notice the flexing, but nothing else. I do know that if you are just driving around with the cross bars on, there is a bad wind noise that comes from them. If you pop up the back of the sunroof it will go away. I just keep mine off when not in use. I think it looks better anyway
