The MAF sensor had a little dirt on it, as I cleaned with the spray I could see the liquid was darker. I cleaned it well....twice! The throttle body was pretty gunky. I had to spray, wipe with a towel or toothbrush, spray again, over and over, I cleaned it till it shined. So I am at a loss. I don't know what else to do. With it showing no codes, where would a shop or the dealer even start to look?

Nobody has mentioned dirty injectors as a possible cause. Is that possible? Would it make sense to run a can or 2 of Sea Foam or Techron through?

I read somewhere on here that since this is a direct injection the seafoam wouldn't do much in cleaning the valves. someone else who knows more on these DI motors could chime in, i'm still learning about these DI motors. I also read in another thread of someone having somewhat similar issues that involved the cam actuator?

edit-what about plug wires? I I highly doubt it but throwing it out there.

There are no plug wires, and the only DI engine is the SS 2.0

The OP has a 2007 HHR. It is not DI.
Plug wires ? These cars don't have them. They are coil-on-plug.

You're drying the MAF sensor with a towel? You may have damaged it. It should just be sprayed clean and air dry. If it was as dirty as it sounds, it may be bad.

If you read my post again, I cleaned the TB with a towel after spraying with the TB cleaner

Run a tank or two with Techron added, can’t hurt!
