running board

My driver's side running board seems really lose. Not the structure itself, but the painted plastic where it attaches to the front wheel well. I can shift it up and down quite a bit and the gap between the body under the GM badge and the board seems to be wider. The techs when replacing my suroof probablly stood on it a lot. Anyone ever had problems like this and is there a simple way to tighten it up or should I talke it in to the shop?

I say take it to the dealer...that why you have a warranty. I did the same thing with the armrest thing and had to make 3 trips, but they finally got it right today. If it wasn't that way before the sunroof issue, you're probably right...they stood on them to do the sunroof.

Note to self........the tech didn't reinstall the sunvisor correctly so check running boards......:D

I stand on the running boards quite often to dry my HHR's top after it's bath, to reach those spots for us vertically challenged folks!
No problems, and I'm a biggal..... supports my behind just fine. (horizontally gifted)

Having just installed running boards this past weekend, the 3 mounts for the boards are pretty hefty and the design of the boards themselves should distribute any weight put on them somewhat evenly between the mounts.

Check the 10mm bolt inside the front and rear fenders to see if they are still tight.

Took it to the dealer today and they said the 07 boards that are put on at the factory are different from the 06 boards that the dealership had to put on. It was hard to tighten up the fronts of the boards because it is just a screw throught the weel well into the painted plastic of the running boards, but the did fix it by pulling the board tight and re-drilling the hole and they also put larger washers on it to. It was a quick fix and the boards dont shift anymore.
