Running Boards/Sand Blasting

So I went to the dealer today and.................complained! I took the TSB with me and a print out of the threads that talked about whats been going on and what dealers and what not have been doing. Immediately, the manager and his partner came out and looked at it and said "Thats just horrible and not right." They took some digital photos and took my tsb and my vin and mileage and is going to turn it in to GM and see what they say. He said he will do whatever he can to try and help me out. I told him my dad and I arent in it for any hand outs or freebies but maybe to meet us half way or something. He said he would definitely try. They're both good people and friends of mine so we'll see what happens.

Wish us luck!

Good Luck, but remember each Dealer does different things. At least yours took pics. Mine came with BDs, I know of those who have not and have paid full price here in FL.

There is no solution to the "sand blasting". Boards only delay the inevitable.

It may not be a permenant solution but if yours looked like mine without em, youd do what you could to make it better. Im going to remove that black trim strip they put on and put on gravel gaurds and use 3m shield guard.

Mine with running boards and the factory mud-flaps,
60,000 miles, even miles down forest roads in route to Mtn Biking Events,
and I have NO Signs of "sand blasting" or paint issues on the rear fender area!!!

Maybe this combo, eliminates the issue.

My mud-flaps, pretty scuffed up from rubbing, things!!!

Later,
Mark

Good Luck, with help from the dealer, hope they work with you!

Same setup here. The rear fenders look good, no more paint chipping than any other car of the same age. The windshield and grill... not so much. I guess that is what I get for driving on the interstate as much as I do.
