alternator stopped - no problem, the engine can run without him. Once I went 2 days without a battery. I start the engine pushing the car with my hands.
Air conditioner does not work - no problem too. Just a little sweat. Russian cars do not have air conditioning. Was not there before, not now. Heater - it is very important.
Even if the water pump does not work - it's only half the sorrow. The coolant can circulate independently. Obeys the laws of physics. The main thing - to closely monitor a temperature sensor. Avoid overheating. Slowly, but you can easily go to the service center.

Oil pump - a big problem.
Correct me if I'm wrong. HHR Serpentine belt rotates pulley of the oil pump.

simply the first idea entails second thought
there is no reason for surprise
this process - the main value of communication on the forum. Of course not unique, but significant value.
Otherwise - just read the manual.
For example, I never really thought about the HHR serpentine belt. I read this post - I understand that is not ready for trouble. Error - should be corrected to obtain information.

the lifetime of the belt.
Today I talked to a lot of repairmen. I showed them my engine and my belt. Their conclusion - the belt is standard. Exactly the same belts are widely used GM. The lifetime of the belt - do not mileage more than 120,000 kilometers. Recommended replacement of the belt after mileage 100,000 miles = 62,305 miles.

No, I don't think so, Belt rotates Alternator, & A/C compressor.

I don't think I have ever seen a car that drove the water pump or the oil pump off the serpentine belt. That would be asking for trouble.

I could see that being a problem with the oil pump. I was generalizing when I said 'water pump' in the case of the HHR. There are many engines that drive the water pump by means of a serpentine belt. Some Chevy V8 engines come to mind as well as others, including the LS2 in my GTO.

Chevy V-8 has been spinning the water pump by belt since 1955, & 6 bangers even way before that..

IDK about the newest ones tho.

Oil pump is driven off the crank itself.

There are two chains. One drives the cams, the other the balance shafts and water pump.
