What if you have a START/but slow to crank over. I have a new battery (2 months old, 2010, 2.2L). Going to get battery tested tomorrow. Checked battery connections and all is good. Been happening to me for two weeks now.

 

Do you mean the starter motor turns too slow or it takes more turns to start than usual?

Usually that is a vacuum leak, mostly from a bad EVAP canister purge valve (the one under the hood).

The last I checked it was running rich and then went to lean. When in dealership for close to a month cause of gauges going crazy. They checked for vacuum leak and found none. they also replaced the purge valve under the hood too. will get codes friday when I get battery checked out.

 

All of that sounds like a EVAP problem. Gauges going crazy could be related, because that is usually because the fuse box is faulty.

There is a fuse for the purge valve. The valve is normally open, so if it gets no power you have a vacuum leak and a lean mixture.

 

I'd investigate the fuse block , ensure the halves are tight , the connections , fuses and relays are all clean and tight!!

 

DONBREW, what is the fuse number for the purge valve? I checked and did not see one. Thanks for all the info so far.

 

I think they are marked "cnstr vent"#64 IIRC. For some reason I keep thinking #33 also.

I think one of them controls something else, too.
