Unhappy "Smoke" Going In For Service Issues

Well...I have finally decided to take Smoke to the dealer and have a few issues resolved. I will be dropping him off on Wednesday and hope that I'll have him back the same day.

Stopped by the dealer after work today and told them I would like the following items addressed.

1. Uneven drivers side armrest. There is that new TSB out on this and they are now replacing them with one that doesn't do that, so I figured I'd get it addressed by the dealer. The guy in the service department said they would have to order the part, but they needed to see the car before they do.

2. Growling/Noisy AC Compressor - I don't use my AC alot...and one of the reasons is because it seems abnormally noisy during use. I told him the problem was intermittent and that I wanted it corrected before the heat sets in. He said they would check it out and address any problems them found accordingly. I can see this being a problem, since it's only an intermittent problem.

3. Windows freezing shut when cold and not opening...sometimes for hours. He didn't seem to thing there was anything that could be done. I told him I've had lots of older cars and never had it happen, so they needed to figure out what was causing the problem and address that as well. Not sure how that will turn out either...but at least I will have it on record that it has been a problem.

Wish me luck...hopefully I'll get my car back the same day. I'm sure they will have to order any parts needed, so he'll probably have to go back again when they come in. This will be the first time he's been in the shop for anything except and oil change and to have the running boards on, so I'm a little nervous about the whole experience. The good thing about it is that the dealership is only about 30 blocks from where I work,so he won't be too far away.

Sindy...Being without is the pits...hopefully that won't happen for more than the day.

Thanks Karen...no valium...but I may need them if they keep him. We will both go into withdrawal if it's more than just the day.

HB and Jesse...hope all goes well too.

Goose...you can count on me providing info on the armrest thing.

Z-Man...I don't want no stinking rental...but if I have to drive something besides Smoke, I'm sure I'll survive. Hopefully they will give me something cool to drive if he has to spend the night.

Deb, I feel your pain. Mine is going back to the dealer also. Perhaps we should get a support group together.

OK...picked Smoke up from the dealer and will return when parts arrive. Here's what my sheet says:

1. Customer states that there is a growling noise from AC at times. Diagnosed and found bulletin #06-01-38-004B to replace condensor tube and evap hose. Parts ordered
#15877651 Hose
#15877652 Tube
#15991719 Clip

2. Customer states that the windows freeze shut when it is very cold outside. Unable to verify abnormal condition at this time. No repairs made (DUH...it's like 50 outside)

3. Customer states that the drivers armrest does not sit level. It is lower than it should be. Diagnosed and found bulletin #07-08-50-007 to replace armrests and parts ordered.

#15935206 Armrest
#15935261 Armrest
(not sure why there are two of these, but it indicates that the 2nd one is a special order)

Edit: Just checked post about TSB and looks like they are replacing both armrests.

Also while there, they asked about putting Nitrogen in my tires. Guess they figured since they were doing warranty work, they needed to get some money out of me somehow. Went ahead and had that done and will report any difference I feel after I drive it for a bit.
