Soot at tailpipe

Just turned 20k on my wife's SS. Been too hot to wash the car so it's been a while and I noticed black soot on the tailpipe and on the moulding around tailpipe. There does not appear to be puffs of smoke while running.

Car is going in for general service pretty soon, just wondering if anyone has experienced this or if it's much to worry about.

EDIT: After a search, I found that's it's pretty typical of SS's. Whew! https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...highlight=soot

No worries, this is normal with the turboed motor, mine has done it from day one.

It is direct injection that does this. The 3.6 does it too.
