I have a 2009 HHR LS. Every once in a while the front pass seat belt does not want to let the person pull the belt out so they can buckle up. I have to reach up and hit the seat belt height adjuster mech and raise/lower it and the belt will then release. Has anyone ever seen this or heard about it????

 

Sounds like a bad seat belt retracting mechanism, they are supposed to "lock up" during sudden decelerations, but they can jam if the internal parts are gummed up with dirt/dust.

Because of the explosive belt pretensioner system used in the HHR, its best to have the belts checked out by your dealer or a qualified technician. As with any SRS parts on a vehicle, you can be injured if they deploy unintentionally.
