Check Engine light on - no codes

Hi Guys,

Lately, I have some problemos with my check engine light ...
I've had a few times the code for small Evap leak, so I replaced the gas cap.
After replacing the gas cap, check engine light is on again ... checked for codes again and although check engine light is on, I have no codes - go figure

Any suggestions pls ???

Remove the battery cable to reset system.
Use a different code tester.

My light the check engine came on, and I could not figure it out. While chasing everything down I found the passenger rear turn signal was burnt out. I replaced that and thought I would take it into the mechanic to find the gremlin. I started it up and the check engine light went off.

It sounds like you need to take it to AutoZone and have them pull the code. No offense, but they have good code readers.. Not saying yours isn't. But I bet they can find a code, even if yours can not..

You have to make sure your code reader has CAN capability.... Some readers are just ODB2 while others are ODB2 & CAN protocol.

@Thylacine, how are things going with your situation with your HHR? Did you take the advice of Officer1151?

I wish my CEL would come on.....

Mine is running bad....but the CEL just will not come on. Dealer said they won't look at it anymore because they can't diagnose the problem if the CEL isn't coming on...

I took it in, they could not pull a code. After they tried it went off for about 15 minutes then came back on. Of course it will be on all winter, just when you really want to use the remote start. I am tired of wasting time on this problem.

I have just had a CEL occur on my HHR, and when I looked at my owners manual, I was surprised to see that a TPS problem will flash a CEL,then turn to steady.
