Sunroof

After some rain here in Michigan, the front drains for the sunroof backed up and clogged all the drains and created a water leak at the headliner at the back hatch. A decent amount of water came in. If it backs up every time it rains, thats a garbage design. this is the 2nd time. thanks GM engineers. I am thinking this was a bad purchase with all the problems I have had so far. just over 22,000 miles and this is the 13th problem i have had with it. Should have kept Pontiac alive. Not too happy right now.

Inspecting and cleaning the drains periodically would have been a good idea then - ie. when washing the car to ensure the drains were clear. Had to do it to my previous cars with factory sunroofs.

X 2

Gotta clean the drain out on a regular basis, otherwise you'll get leaks, and it doesn't matter whether its a Chevy, Ford, Dodge, or Yugo.

It is said that people on this forum are quick to complain and slow to praise.

With that, I will say I have 23k miles on mine and zero problems.

HipHotRod May 8, 2012 07:53 AM

Yea slow to praise. Yea. My car was a week old, brand new and the drains were clogged. I went away for a week, came back and the headliner was all water stained from the rain. Dealer wouldnt touch it, said I left the sunroof open. Ssssssslow toooooo Praiseeeeeee............****ty gas mileage, ssssssslowwwwwww to praiseeeeeeeeeee.........Noisey, rattles, transmission bucks.........38k miles it's paid off and I hate to drive this thing. Sllllloooowwwwwww tooooooooooo praiseeeeeeeeeeeee the horrible customer service and the totally useless warranty this car has. That's my take, based on personal experience with GM, never again.

Well maybe not slow to praise. The problem is many people who have no problems don't speak up to say - hey everything is working fine.

But, since my HHR is my first vehicle ever with a sunroof, where are the drains and how do you clean them?

Snoopy May 8, 2012 01:51 PM

hey....everything is working fine.....(just to make you happy:lol:)

NEVER have cleaned the drains since owning the car. Well, not entirely true. Sent about 90 PSI air through them when I did my spring cleaning, about 2 weeks ago. Absolutely clean, except for a puff of dust.
