Sunroof Goo

I had my sunroof open today for about an hour with the car sitting in the hot sun. When I closed it it had this black goo on it. Does anybody know what this is?

Thanks,

Van

It's sunroof goo. Use sunroof goo-b-gone to clean.

Sorry. It's probably some lube, which means it may be on one of the guide pads. A chevy dealer can fix it. Usually it goes from front to rear not side to side. I would be interested in knowing what they have to do to fix.

Hey ChevyMgr.... (did I get it right this time?)....

I had the same goo, in the same location, when my car was new. But I also had the infamous "thunk or clunk" when opening or closing the sunroof. I was TOLD one of the channels was slightly bent and caused the sliding panel to make the noise. The goo, I was told, was just a sloppy install at the factory. But mine wasn't a goo like a lubricating product. It was more like "dum-dum".

Did it go side to side like avanbaggett's pic or front to rear?

Side to side, almost all the way across....about 6-8 from the front edge.

That's interesting, I've never seen it. I couldn't tell you what it is.

And yes you got it right that time. :one:
