Temp gauge shows well above normal

Temp gauge shows well above normal

2010HHR 66K miles. Temp gaugereads above normal but engine shows no sign of being overheated. Do I have a faulty temp gauge??

My gauge is analog. Temp needle was always in the middle(normal).

Welcome to the site.

What does the digital engine temp read on the DIC display ?
It's most likely running hot even if it doesn't show any signs. Let it cool down and check the coolant level in the radiator(not the overflow container). If it's not full when cold, then you've lost coolant.
Check back with your findings.

Fwiw. A faulty gauge is unlikely. Don't recall anyone posting up problems with that.

Look in your Owner Manual for directions using the DIC to access thye digital temp gauge.

I'm guessing that you haven't read the owners manual that shows you all that can be read in the DIC (Drivers Information Center) on your dash.

If you don't have an owners manual, check Donbrews signature above. He has a link where you can download one.

Borrowed this picture from another thread. All HHR's have the ability to display the coolant temperature plus other readings by scrolling with the info button on your steering wheel.
