Timing Chain Guide
I am replacing the timing chains (both) and just noticed that Rock Auto sent the wrong timing chain guide for the right guide (adjustable one). Nobody locally has them. NAPA doesn't even list that guide, just the other two. If I had it I could complete the job today. My son needs the car Monday for school.
Has anyone reused the right side timing chain guide? The old one shows very little wear on it. Do the local parts stores not carry it or have it in stock because that guide is rarely replaced? Everyone locally has the upper and left guides. Thanks Steve |
The one on the right is fixed.

The one I am asking about reusing is the adjustable one. That is also the one nobody has in stock or even carries.

I'm not sure how it could be the wrong one.
As long as it has no wear I'd reuse it. The tensioner does the work on that one. |
Perhaps a picture of what the guide orientation is, the adjustable one? Would be the rear one, that the tensioner pushes against.

Yes, the one I am asking about reusing is the one the tensioner presses against.

You can reuse it, could you post a picture of the difference
|
I looked in the book; They look at the guides from the back of the motor; the fixed guide is on the left and the adjustable is on the right from that perspective, don't know why they would do that.
As far as I can tell the guides are the same for all years and 2.2 or 2.4 or 2.0. |
