It would really depend on when the guide failed, high rpm or low rpm, and whether the timing chain went slack enough to jump a sprocket tooth on one or both of the cams.
Unfortunately, this is one of those "you aren't going to know until you get in there" deals. Unless you can lay your hands on a borescope to look at the piston crowns for "witness" marks left by the valves.
If the stars aligned right, and luck is on your side, the engine didn't jump time. But you'll find out for sure when you replace the chain and guides.

Do you have a DTC P0315? That will require a scantool to relearn the crankshaft position sensor.
If the engine was ever turned counter-clockwise the chains will jump teeth.
Oddly enough the "book" says 4 hours labor!

should I replace timing chain tensioner before it fails?
2010 LS, 60K, just bought it last month. It is a GM CPO car with a 12m/12k warranty, but this car is for my daughter and I don't want any disasters while she's driving.
What are everyone's thoughts on having the timing chain tensioner replaced proactively, i.e. before it has a chance to fail? I have no problem with the cost if everyone thinks this is a good idea.
Thanks.
