Tire Pressure Warning!!!
 

This is a heads-up to all HHR owners. I went to fill up and check my tire pressure, and it was only 32psi; after having been driving for 25 min!!! :eek: I inflated all tires to 40psi, and have(obviously) seen a significant increase in MPG. This is something all HHR owners need to be aware of.

I've always thought 32-35 was good. All tires the same pressure of course. I believe the sticker on the car says 35 psi. :D

There's always a trade off in ride quality when going too high, but the MPG does go up. Too low and the edges of the tires wear first.

I suppose the HHR benifits from all pressure being equal, unlike my older Chevys, the Corvairs.
On my Corvairs I have 10 pounds less pressure in the fronts as their is little weight up front except the inevitable 50 pounds of tools one must carry when driving an older car!:lol:

It's 35 PSI on 2LTs with 17"s. ;)

I believe the sticker on the inside of the door of my SE with 16" wheel says 30psi.

Increasing your air pressure will achieve greater gas mileage, however you may wear the tires quicker. The trick is to find the optimal pressure which will wear the tires evenly.

The tire pressure listed on the door panels is specific for the different tires that your HHR comes with it. The pressure listed should be the "average" for ride quality and wear. If you change to aftermarket tread it is up to you to find this "average". It should be somewhere between what Chevy suggests and what the tire manufacture suggests on the sidewall of the tire.

I don't know if there is a guideline on the door, I didn't check, but my dealer said that the suggested rotation interval of my tires is every 6,000 miles...on a 1LT with 16s...my pressure averages about 30 psi.

i have 215x55X16 Goodyear Eagle GP-H rated tires and on the sidewall it says max pressure at gross weight is 44 psi. these are softer tires for traction and better traction in weather

i tried to do a search to see what i should put in when i got them and came up blank.
i am real happy w the tires and the way they are wearing. i alread have 13,000 on them and they still look new. rotated them twice.

i have 32 in them now.

The door post says 30 psi all around. I have a 1LT with 16" tires and I run 30 in front and 29 in the rear around town and when I hit the road for long distances I put 31 psi in front and 30 psi in back. Love the ride and the gas milage.
