TPMS, something happened
so i was driving to my girlfriends today and 2 blocks from her house my TPMS sensor went off and the reeding for my left rear tire was gone (i had 2 dashes) it said i needed to Srv Tire Monitor i turned the car on and off 2 or three times and nothing changed, i checked the pressure at the tire and everything was good so i left the car for 2 hours and went back after starting the car, nothing changed, 30 seconds later, it came back and hasn't gone off since then, im going to bring it into the dealership tomorrow just to get it looked at before the warranty is up but has anyone else had this problem?
|
they are somewhat tempermental, and lose reception to the sensor in the car. not a cheap replacement, when out of 36k
|
i just hit 38k yesterday but i have extended warranty so i gotta get everything looked at and fixed before it runs out. has yours done what mine did?
|
Another thing to consider and have checked is whether the TPMS sensor battery has died on you, they are supposed to last for a couple years, but they do have a habit of pooping out early.
|
I read the batteries are 'supposed' to last 10 yrs. But that sounds too good imo..
|
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is..

I agree.......:twothumbs:

I'm so glad my '07 doesn't have these things..... :skull:

The sensor is failing. Some of the dealers seem to be difficult in getting it replaced if it isn't failing when you bring it in. I had success snapping a picture of the fault (with the tire with a -- on it) and had three of those things replaced over a 6 month or so period. No problems in the nearly 2 years since then so I must have had a bad batch of sensors with this car.
And to everyone saying how much they hate the TPMS system or are glad they don't have it, I am glad I do have it. I had it light up for me on a tire that suddenly was losing air (not all gone) and it prompted me to take a look. The tire had a huge bulge in the sidewall and needed to be replaced. I check my equipment often, but I would rather not have any delay in finding something like that out. |
well i brought it to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with it and i havnt had the problem again but i also told them i am some times having trouble putting it into first and they said that i need a new clutch :( the clutch is $244 but with labor it comes to $1,280. my heart sank when i heard this, i dont need the clutch for a couple of months but i will soon, the mechanic said that it felt "mushy" it doesnt feel any different to me that the day i got it
