trans/brake problems
Good day all was driving my 2010 automatic trans to work today, stop for a light and turn right. Went to go all was well frist 100 ft or so then a pop and lost power. Gave it some gas and still not right. not sure the problem if i put it 1 low car will not go same with 2 low , in drive it will go but take lots of gas and getting to spped is slow. not sure if the trans is shifting right as i had to get to work or if the brakes are just hanging up. I just bought the car 2-3 weeks ago only as 43,000 miles on it . brakes /frontend almiment and tire was done before i bought it . Any recall problems on trans or brake part on this year it a lt model .

There was a shifter recall on the 2009 models, but it was an issue with engaging "Park" when stopped, nothing like what you have going on.
Hung brakes will usually cause a pull on the side with a hung caliper, and the affected wheel will be hotter than hot. It sounds like you should limp, or preferably tow, your vehicle back to the dealer and have it checked out. It could be a problem with the Transmission Control Module(TCM), or a mechanical failure in the transmission itself. Do you have a Check Engine light on? |
When you press the on the gas are the RPM's going up?
in not you may have a bad throttle body. System in drive by wire and there is not a cable to the throttle. I have replaced several at our shop. Just a thought. (Warranty?) |
Yes rpm are going up and does not pull left or right and I did feel the brake ro and they same both hot . will check trans fluid level at lunch and then take it to the dealer after work. Its a 1mile down from work .
|
? does the trans have a dip stick or is it like the ion and its sealed unit (aka need a wrench to check it)
|
When I got mine (Way back in 2008) It came with a 5 year 100,000 mile drive train warranty that would transfer to a new owner. Have you called the dealer?
|
No dipstick on the transmission, you have to check the fluid level by removing the fill plug.

took it to the dealer last night told them the problem the service writer and tech have not a idea the problem last night it shoed no codes or check eng light. they will look deeper today as of 2pm no phone call with news. And yes it might be covered under gm 100,000 mile warrnty. I am hoping it does as funds are low just had to write a check for the last car that was totaled and gap ins did not cover the loan amount. Has anyone heard on some gm cars/truck that some trans have a 60 amp fuze that when it goes it will not move just like it lost the trans .

I'm so sorry that you had to experience that. I want to do some research for you. Could you please private message me your name, address, vehicle identification number, and current mileage? Thanks, Jessica L. Chevrolet Customer Care |
up date
well Went by the chevy dealer after work to see if they have found the problem on the hhr . Service wirter said tech took the car out 3 time and each time car had no problems. Put over 20 miles on it and it fine. The night before the service wirter had problems moving the car so he know it has problems but it hard to fix when you cant get it to due it . So today the are going to put it on the rack and pull the pan and see if they can find anything .
