Transmission Cooler Lines

Seeking some help. Is it normal for Transmission cooler lines to sweat? And if they are leaking, does the tranny fluid flow out heavy or just drip slowly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Almost forgot to mention, it's for the 2.0L engine on an 2009.

In a word, no. Any leakage/seepage should be investigated before you suffer a catastrophic loss of fluid. Since you have a 2009 and its probably still under warranty, get it checked out as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help.

No problem, what exactly did they find?

Tyler Harvey 06-21-2011 04:16 PM

I had them done this morning. They were leaking from the seals. Just a slow leak. Covered under warrenty. Ready to Rock n' Roll again.

Thanks.

The Grey Ghost (2009 LT) suddenly developed what looked like transmission fluid leak. Had it towed to dealer as I was afraid to take the chance on driving my baby. Just got call from dealer saying it is cooler lines leaking and the transmission pan needs to be replaced to the tune of $650.00! Does this sound about right? This is the first time I've had any issues since purchasing her in Aug 2013. Mileage is about 88,000. I live in the Riverdale, GA area so if anyone knows of someone I could take the Ghost to for a second opinion I would appreciate it.

Hey Nenda,

I'm sorry to hear that your vehicle has developed a transmission leak. I understand that you are seeking a second opinion on the diagnosis. I will be glad to find a dealership in your area to give you a second opinion. Please send us a private message in reference to this thread with your zip code included. Thank you!

I don't know any reason that the trans pan would need to be removed in replacing the cooler lines! Ask them "why?" Maybe they meant the transmission pan gasket?
