Transmission issues...

Well, I have been doing a good amount of highway driving lately and started having an issue. Whenever the car ('10 HHR SS) is right around 2k rpms it bucks or slips constantly (every couple seconds). It started as it would just happen here and there once and that's it, now it's pretty constant around that rpm. Typically between 40-60mph on the highway. Above that it's fine and below that it's fine.

So, it's going to the dealership tonight. Only 17k for miles on it and really frustrated that I'm having this issue. I'm hoping it's maybe just a sensor or something. Other than that the car drives just fine, no codes or other issues.

I rely on my car for my business and going with out it for an extended period of time is going to really be a PITA!

Wish me luck....

Interesting. My 2010 SS 5 speed has started to do a similar thing. At about
2000 rpms, constant speed, it seems to shudder or stutter(almost like a slight miss) Also have no CEL's come up.It is an intermittant(sp?) thing,so it doesn't happen every time. It seems to be a little more frequent the longer distance I drive.
Do you have the Turbo upgrade?
My 1st plan of action is to check the T-map sensor O-rings. Next I will check all the wiring connections: T-map,MAF, etc.

I know you said your's is an automatic, but just wondering if maybe your's isn't the transmission and we have the same problem.

Post up if and when you find the fix. I'll do the same.

I don't have the turbo upgrade. It's bone stock and I honestly don't even drive it hard.

It's definitely worse when I drive longer distances. I just drove it to the dealer and it only did it a couple times. I have a feeling they are going to not be able to recreate the issue.

My 06 with its 2.4 L auto, when I drive conservatively, and reach 38 mph and 2000 rpm wants to shift into lock up. The rpms drop to ~1500 rpm. If I give it any gas it down shifts, and if I let the car coast it will stay in lockup until ~34-35 mph, then down shift

Check out the post titled Automatic Tranmission Problems and see if anything sounds familiar. Good luck and if it is still in warrranty they should take care of it.

Turned out to be a faulty mass air flow sensor. No CEL though. But apparently that was the problem. I went for a decent drive tonight to see if it was still there and it seems just fine.

It was covered under warranty.
