I recently replaced a shift solenoid on my 2007 Chevrolet HHR LT 2.4L Automatic Trans after finding it all burnt up and melted to its plug in (Wiring Harness). After I put everything back together and went to shift the car into gear, there was no response at all. I read and noticed someone else had a similar issue (only they were going forward in all gear’s including park) and they found that it was the bottom linkage on the inside of the transmission right next to the shift solenoid that was not attached.

I already replaced the shift cable on top of the transmission, that being said, any thoughts or suggestions? Or is my suspicion correct and I should check the linkage inside the tranny?

What caused the original melting? That is the reason.
